Radiometric safety? It's all about trust. Trust that your team knows their stuff, follows the rules, and handles everything safely. Without that, things can get risky. Here at VEGA, with our 70+ years of leading the charge in radiometric technology, we're all about earning that trust. We're here to make owning and operating radiometric systems a breeze – and safe, too.

In this issue of The Radiometric Source we bring you how to prepare for your next audit, three articles exploring radiometric technology and operational efficiency in the mining industry, some of the radiometric services VEGA has available to you, common applications for radiometric measurement, and a cutting-edge new product from VEGA. Plus, you can sign up for a free gift! Whether you're a seasoned expert or new to the radiometric scene, there's something here for everyone.

Are you prepared for your next audit?

We've heard from some RSOs like you that it can be a bit tricky figuring out how to handle regulator audits and inspections, especially when it comes to radiation safety programs. Here are a few tips on what to expect and how to be well-prepared for those common questions.

  1. Document Organization: Make sure you've got all your radiation survey records, source holder location maps, and leak test records sorted and easy to access. This way, when an auditor asks for them, you can quickly pull them out without any hassle.

  2. Dosimetry: It's not always necessary for everyone, but you should have a solid explanation (preferably in writing) about why certain personnel do or don’t need dosimetry. Keep this info handy in your radiation safety program documents.

  3. Training Records: Regulators often ask about training for your radiation safety officers, their assistants, and anyone using the gauges. Keeping these records tidy and together with your other necessary documents will help your inspection run smoothly.
